Do it yourself…

So, to awake your imagination, i decided to share with you one link. It’s your personal bug creator. If you have interesting design or got any ideas share it with everybody…

http://www.busselecta.com/ – you can create not only bugs, but buses and 356s too…

http://www.volkswarenhaus.de/bugselecta.htm – direct link… mine is “up to 78” model (at least the most similar one).

Bring it on…

I still can’t decide on color. I think that after all the welding, new paint will be essential and i would like to plan it as soon as possible, because the paint decides the interior and many other looks… Red and white, blue and white… These are my favorites now… Although my family thinks, that present colour is great…

Those who are interested in Bugs more, should visit this forum frequently. Great info, photos and members…

Ups and Downs… Part 2.

As i hoped to take bug to the service, i drove to school with him. I was really nice to know and hear, how many people were enjoying the look of it. I haven’t heard any bad comments and i hope the bug made someone smile, because this is that it’s all about… maybe not all but most…

After lessons i took him to the service, where i asked to change the front bearings, adjust the lights, combustion and CO. Unfortunately they did only bearings and lights… That would be good, but they also said, there is no way i am passing the technical test (MOT) with so many rusts… That fucked up my mood very much… The more we fix, the more problems we find and now i am getting the idea, that i will not enjoy it this summer at all… My mood is too bad to write anything more, so i just add the photos….

Ups and Downs…

Almost of you know, Sunday is our repair day and yesterday was no excuse. From previous post you already know, that there were some parts bought a lot of other things to do…

The first job i did on Saturdays night was the air filter fitting. With a little force i managed to seat it inside. Despite that I haven’t felt any changes for the driving quality yet…

Another job jog we did was headlamps adjusting and their rims attaching. That was a horrible job and now i know why. Some lazy ass welder was to lazy to fix the inner of headlamp correctly and all the fitting places were ruined. It was impossible to fit the lamp itself and eyebrows were easily falling and moving . We made some custom attaching places and fixed the situation for now, but it’s very temporally. You can see good and bad headlamp place here:
Bad and Good. (One can see that from the smoothness…)

The other important thing we done was the windshield washing system… As you probably know, i got no original one, so i had to use one from VW Golf Mk2… It’s also very temporally, because the tank itself doesn’t fit good and i want to keep this original.

The water flow is turned on by a button we made. We didn’t want to ruin the interior, that is why we made custom one. It looks like a NOS button, so i like it… Sure, it will be changed in the future…

I also changed muffler heads. they were really rusty and i hope these will be better…
In these pictures you can see old and new ones.

There were a lot of other thing we did, but the biggest was door adjusting. There were a huge hole between door and body. We fixed that, but now it’s impossible to close the door correctly… ech…

We also fitted a new stereo… well, maybe not stereo… but at least something… Juozas made a 12V to 9V converter and now the deck can be powered from the battery itself.

Most of the works here were done by Juozas, because i realised, that i have no experience and skill that we need now, but i hope to contribute more later. Another thanks to Juozas.

Scrapyard….

Continuing the preparations for “Sunday Repair Day” we (I and my friend Jonas and Mantas) visited “paradise” – car’s scrapyard .Well it wasn’t so good as i expected, but i still liked it… I was oping to see something like i seen on TV, on Mythbusters or any other similar show. Those are amazing – you can wander in them all day long, find any part you want and for any car you need. Here you find only few hangars with a lots of parts, but 90% of them are for Golf Mk2, Audi 100, Audi 80, Renault 19 and other boring cars… And the worst thing is ,that you can’t walk there free, because owners are afraid that you will steal something (usual problem in Lithuania). Despite that i still liked it….

It’s a pity i found only a windscreen washer system, that belonged for Golf Mk2, but i hope we will be able to apply it to the beetle… later i also bought some paint, for pulley and air filter (i don’t want them to look so boring) and some bulbs for headlamps.
